Valentine's Portraits in Lieu of Fall Holiday Pictures / DC Photographer

Last month I found myself buying my two elementary-school-aged children shoes, the week before school started! Despite having this on my to-do list for months, I waited until summer was over to accomplish this task! And, as you might expect, I wasn't alone in the shoe store. Fully aware of the rush I would face, I was still only truly moved to buy at the same time as everyone else!!

After years as a DC photographer, I've found that family portrait session purchases coincide with school shoes. :) Perhaps we all get to more than just shoes as the school year approaches and the promise of a consistent schedule calms our minds!

The popularity of colorful backdrops with fall leaves and greens for family holiday cards can not be denied. As we enter September, I have only two fall sessions remaining.

Because of this, I'm offering a new service this year. Valentine's Day family portrait mini-sessions!! An annual tradition for my own family, Valentine's portraits are perfect for those whom wouldn't mind avoiding the holiday-season rush. Instead of winter holiday cards, Valentine's photo cards offer a bit of cheer in dreary February -- brightening the mailboxes of friends and family that have long stopped receiving traditional holiday cards. I personally love Valentine's Day as it is synonymous with love, AND offers adorable styling options, too. :)

For the below session, we used tiny tattoos (stick on, of course!) to amp up the fun. If you would like to book a family Valentine's Day portrait session, contact the studio before November 15th to guarantee a slot and a special, mini-session price.

Winter Whites / Indoor At-Home Family Photos

I'm loving the images we captured during this indoor, at-home, family photo session! There are so many ways to make images bright, cozy and and an intimate reflection of your family, even during the coldest times of year.  It didn't hurt that this momma had a fantastic style sense.  The kids were comfy in their knitted sweaters, and mom's blue nail polish which perfectly matched her top made me want to shop for a copy of my own! I hope you enjoy the images as much as I do!

Big Brothers! / Bethesda Maternity and Newborn Photographer

I love the real-life moments that my clients deliver at every photo session. These two adorable boys became big brothers seven weeks ago! I was lucky enough to meet their new sister today (and look forward to getting some of that session online soon)! For now, here's a flashback to their family before they became a family of five! (We played some at-home-in-the-curtain peekaboo as you'll see below - I bet their little sister will be joining in that fun in no time!)

Springtime Sessions / MD & DC Maternity Photographer

Based on the percent of my family sessions that are also maternity sessions this spring, I believe the DC-area may be in for a baby boom this summer! This family had gorgeous sunshine and green backdrops for their baby-on-the-way session. I'm in love with the blue and pink color-scheme they chose for their photo session outfits! Their almost-two-year-old was all smiles and sweetness. I'm certain she is going to be one of the loveliest big sisters!

I haven't been very good about posting to my blog (i.e., I haven't posted consistently to my blog in a few years!). But, I'm looking forward to turning over a new leaf this year! To help, I have plans to hire a wonderfully talented assistant to help with social media (e.g., ...getting sneak peek blog posts online for my clients). Interviews are currently underway. Stay tuned! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy some of the images from this maternity session!

Darling Images of Darling Children / Potomac Children's Photographer

I was honored to be contacted by a grandmother who wanted to capture her grandchildren at the precious ages of three-years old, and 10-months old. I must admit, we had such fun during the session! Upon arrival we played to get to know each other and I saw huge true smiles.  When the camera came out, my usual games had less affect.  So, we found the very thing that put this darling princess at ease: an imaginary tea party complete with English accents!  And, the little brother followed suit!  I love the expressions we captured and I hope you do, too!

Blue-Eyed Babes! / Bethesda Baby Photographer

All three members of this family are fun and gorgeous. I loved the outfits they chose for their session, which complimented their beautiful eyes. And, what luck when I approached their home and saw that the one colorful tree on their street was actually right in front of their home! The combination of style, beauty and fall wonder really came together to create stunning photos.  I hope you enjoy some of them!
